The deadline for both applications is March 19th and more information—including a full guidance document about the Congressionally Directed Spending process—can be found on our website: https://www.murphy.senate.gov/services/appropriations.
Programmatic requests are requests for Congress to fund an authorized federal program at a specific level or to include language directing a federal agency to implement a program in a specific way.
Example: Increasing funding for Amtrak.
Congressionally Directed Spending (or CDS) provides funding for specific project to a town, project, or organization directly from the federal government.
Example: Provide funding for a rail station in town
Congressionally Directed Spending is a great way to get direct support for your town or organization from the federal government. You can apply for projects related to community safety, transportation, healthcare, education, workforce development, housing, science, or energy, climate, and coastal resilience.
