Description: 
The Doyon Foundation was established as a separate nonprofit charitable organization in 1989 by Doyon, Limited. Doyon Foundation’s mission is to provide educational, career and cultural opportunities to enhance the identity and quality of life for Doyon shareholders.

Four different types of scholarships to meet the needs of our diverse students:

  • Competitive awards up to $11,000, awarded once per year
  • Full-time and part-time awards, ranging from $1,600 for part-time students to $2,400 for full-time students, awarded three times per year

Full- and part-time award applications must be submitted on or before the following deadlines:

  • May 15: For fall semester funding
  • November 15: For spring semester funding
  • March 15: For summer semester funding

Students must submit an application for each semester they wish to receive funding – spring, summer and fall.

To be eligible for a Doyon Foundation scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled to Doyon, Limited (the regional Alaska Native corporation for Interior Alaska, is a for-profit corporation headquartered in Fairbanks, Alaska, Doyon) or be the child of an original enrollee. If applicant is not an original enrollee, but is the child of an original shareholder, an original birth certificate is required for verification. Gifted or inherited shares do not qualify an individual for scholarship eligibility.
  • Be accepted to an accredited college, university, technical or vocational school.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates, 3.0 for graduates or masters, and 3.25 for specialists or doctorates.
  • Be enrolled in 12 or more credits (undergraduates), or 9 or more credits (graduates) to be considered full-time students.
  • Be enrolled in 3 to 11 credits (undergraduates), or 2 to 8 credits (graduates) to be considered part-time students.
