Harold Bettinger was a partner in Bettinger Farms of Swanton, Ohio. In the mid-’50s, he was one of the first progressive growers to convert his bedding plant production from wooden to plastic flats. Bettinger Farms now grows greenhouse and field vegetables. The Bettinger Scholarship is intended for horticulture students, sophomore through graduate levels, who have a major or minor in business and/or marketing with the intent to apply their education to a horticulture-related career business

Complete ONE application online. The deadline is May 1 for all application components (online application, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation). Do not wait until the last minute. Each application and supporting documents must be written in English or include an English translation.

  • Transcripts from your most recent school, do not need to be official. Upload transcripts to your online application as a PDF.

  2. Select My Account > My Applications > Complete > Copy Application > Make a Copy
  3. Review all information before submitting to confirm you meet all criteria.
  • If recommendation letters must be sent separately, email the PDF to afe@endowment.org by the May 1 deadline.
  • If transcripts must be sent separately, email the PDF to afe@endowment.org by the May 1 deadline.
  • Those applying for an international scholarship must upload relevant documentation of travel plans and/or acceptance in a work/study program.
